I live in Florida; however, we have family in Pasadena.  Everytime we go we HAVE to go out to the Arroyo Chop House.  It's a bit pricey, but an excellent meal with excellent service!

Those that remember the "Pepper Mill" that has now been gone for well over a decade, know that Shakers in South Pasadena and "Central Park" in Pasadena are the same owners.  They will also know that many of the Central Park employees came from the Pasadena Salt Shaker on Arroyo Parkway when they closed that one for another "housing project".

I used to like Masa, but they are gone...

Personally, I would rather drive to Monrovia for "Zen Buffet" or Temple City or Burbank or Covina for "Home Town Buffet".

For lunch, Golden China in South Pasadena is not bad.

Cabrera's on North Lake (south of Orange Grove) also has a buffet for lunch that is reasonable, just a bit more limited in selection, and some on the spicy side.

I dont know how you feel about sushi, but if you like it then you KNOW how hard it is to find a good sushi place!  I personally love Sushi, and there's a place in Dena that serves thee absolute BEST.  So if that is an option for you check out The Szechuan Cafe on Mountain road. Not too fancy but nothing low class either, so it's a good middle ground atmosphere. Enjoy!

The Raymond Restaurant is a great experience. It's not far from Old Towne Pasadena. Google it....it's always a hit. There is also a Twin Palms, Cheval Blanc Bistro and Cheval Blanc Bistro. Good Luck!
