When renting a unit by owner what is the referral or finder's fee standard you would pay ?

I am renting my unit to a possible tenant. What is the standard referral or finder's fee that I should pay the broker who found the tenant. Also, what form do I need to have filled out along with the tenant's broker, besides the lease agreement?

Did you advertise with an agent or advertise on your own?

If you advertised on your own, perhaps 1/2  month's rent.

We are landlords, and we don't pay agents to bring us tenants.  If a tenant wishes to use one, the tenant will be responsible for the fee.

In Florida, it is customary for a listing agent to request 1 month's rent as commission which is then split between the listing agent and the tenant's agent.   If you did not list the property with an agent, I would recommend that you offer the tenant's broker 1/2 of one month's rent as a commission.  You did the other 1/2 of the work.

Hi, The fee is really variable - I've seen from nothing to 20% of the first month rent. A good Agent will not be considering the finder's fee, but making sure they find the right property for their client...! Often you see fees of around $100, but all of this will depend on the property you are looking to rent out of course :)
