The right time to sell varies from person to person, ultimately depends on your personal circumstances. The following are a few examples of what would cause someone to sell now vs later...

1. Retirement
2. unemployment
3. Declining Values
4. Up-sizing 
5. Down-sizing
6. Relocation

It's a good Idea to interview a few agents to determine who's the right person for the job should you decide to sell now.

If you don't NEED to sell your home, now is not the best time to sell as home values have plunged (especially in California) and there is a glut of homes already on the market.

If you need or still want to sell, contact a real estate agent (or two) and ask them for a free Competitive Market Analysis to determine just how much you will net from the sale of your home.
