When the $8k goes away....

What percent of buyers are relying on the $8k to induce them to buy? Am I the only one who thinks prices will drop again when this program ends? What will "the man" do then, pay buyers closing costs?

Our NAR dollars are hard at work in DC lobbying for Stimulus II. They are trying very hard to keep this subsidized housing voucher system extended.

Is there anyone in their right mind that thinks otherwise?  The only way it could happen is if inflation got so bad that it made the 8k irrelevant.

Our NAR dollars are hard at work in DC lobbying for Stimulus II. They are trying very hard to keep this subsidized housing voucher system extended.

They want the amount doubled and to make it more easily exploitable, too.  What we really need to do is abolish the 8k bribe, the FHA, Fannie & Freddie, and the mortgage interest tax deduction.  And I'm sure there are 10 more taxpayer-funded bubble-inflating things I didn't even think of just now.

And while we are "hoping" to get rid of excessive psudo government agencies; lets also get rid of FDIC, FDA, Red Cross, HUD, AMA...

Really, there is a good reason that our governments cannot balance their budgets, and that they keep taking larger and larger percentages of the citizen's income.

We are in need of a major overhaul, and bandaids won't do it.  Nor will "health care reform" that keeps the FDA, AMA, and insurance industry in charge.  The only real solution to health care reform is community based alternative care that directly competes with the AMA model.  Really, "medicine", "surgery", "radiation", "chemo", "insurance payments", "co-pays", and "deductables" are not "health care", but most people cannot see this.

I want the 15K buyers credit. As long as the NAR is lobbying, they might as well ask for more since the budget is tanking into the future anyway.

I just purchased my first home last week I move in august. The 8k had nothing to do with it just a nice bonus. I live in Beaverton, Oregon and I had same budget last year around 250k but all you could afford was townhomes and condos so I just rented.

Anybody who has purchased a home that does not pass the new federal standards for energy efficiency is screwed. Then there is the "location efficiency" federal standard that will put screw you again. Not only will the government decide what you can drive, now they can decide where you can live or you don't get the mortgage. Good luck selling in 2012 an beyond.
