When you ask for seller assist can that only be applied to the closing costs?

Ex: If we ask the seller to pay $5000 in seller assist and the closing costs are $2500 can the buyer be given the additional $2500 for expenses such as repairs on the home after sale?

The $5,000 will be for financing related closing costs. This does not allow for them to give you a kick back after closing. The way you can negotiate this is to reduce the purchase price by $2,500 or request that the seller makes the $2,500 in necessary repairs prior to closing.

Usually what is left goes back to the seller, BUT if you ask for $5,000 towards closing costs & PREPAIDS you can use that difference towards homeowners ins and other pre-paid items
