Where can I get drawings with dimensions of a home I am considering buying?

Profile picture for ctask
We are considering buying a home with itentions of doing some renovations. I would like to get the drawings first and have a contractor look over them to give us an estimate. I'm guessing I can get drawings at one of the county government offices, but not sure which one. Is there any way I can find this info online? Any suggestions?

Your county may have this kind of information on their local site. I would contact a local realtor and they should be able to take care of this for you or at least point you in the right direction.

If you are in the county it will be the county; if Kokomo is a large city it will be the city.
The departments nams vary: Deptartment of Planning and Development, Building Department or something like that.
You can start with either the city or county websites and find out how to contact them there.
Building drawings anre not typically online yet, even in large cities. It typically means that you need to make a trip to the office and scan the photo of the drawings.  You can usually ask to have copies made for a fee.
Unless the home was recently built or has had some remodeling done, drawiings are not readily available.  It depends on how old the structure is.

A much easier and certain way to accomplish what you are wanting to do is to make an offer on the home and include a feasibilty study as one of the contingencies.  This is standard practice in commercial real estate but is often done in residential also.

Good luck.
