Where do we sit with the 1st Time Homebuyer ($7500) credit?

I recall Congress considering making the credit part of the new stimulus package....essentially the tax credit would not have to be paid back.

If you're in an area where housing prices have stabilized (as best as possible), $7500 bucks is a pretty sweet incentive - you can even claim it for 2008 on a purchase this year.

Can anyone shed more light on the situation?

I would be interested in someone answering this one too. I saw a Washington Times? article a couple days back that said the non repayment proposal was part of the stimulus package, but haven't heard anything since.
