If it was listed and then sold on the open market by B of A, then it was sold at market value no matter what price it sold for. That is the reality of REO's today in many areas.

You can find plenty of manufactured homes (2 bed/2 bath) for under $5,000. I bought one recently for $3,000. I know some investors who buy them for $1,000 or less.
You can buy fixer-upper row houses in Baltimore for $10,000-$15,000.

oh, and I guess I should also answer- the least expensive 2/2 single family residence in the Phoenix area as of writing this that is currently active in the MLS is listed for $16000, and its an REO. There are cheaper 3 beds, and condos/townhomes/manufactured homes become a whole other story

to go in line with sunnyviews answer- value means 'what will someone pay for this?'. If it was listed on the market, and the most someone would pay was $1000 after more than one person was able to view it, then its worth $1000. Kind of a value-is-in-the-eye-of-the-beholder point of view. Value is not determined by a seller, no matter what people think, because if you cant get someone to buy whatever you have to sell, then it has no value at any price. This goes for any item, from houses to tomatoes.
