You'll not get the ROI for the expense of an updated bird's eye view.
Good photos of the house, the yard, interesting features with no clutter is what you need. Dated bird's eye helps show that you really have made updates.

The expected update frequency by the third party provider tends to be about six years, although I know in my neighborhood it is currently longer.
The simplest solution is to take your own photos and upload them if you are planning to put the property on the market. Your own photos will appear first, so the dated aerial photo will not be seen first.

other funny things you'll notice- sometimes you see a trashcan on a curb but change the zoom or angle and it's gone
there is a question on bing about how often their maps are updated.
a bing representative answered it. but didn't respond to how frequrently the images are updated.

no i have no idea. It's truly independent of zillow and likely has a lot to do with location/demand for viewing etc. if you really get to looking on Bing and even google you'll see funny variances. example, my previous house is on a corner, from google's street view when you are on the E-W street the grass in the yard is green and I have a white pickup in the driveway that was sold in 2007, but on the N-S street looking at the drive there is no car there and it looks more like winter. from one level zoomed out you can see something large in the circle drive like an RV- we rented one once and perhaps previous owners owned one- not sure when that photo was taken.
so you can't rely on any of them to be current- but they do still offer helpful insight just don't replace going to the property and seeing it in person.

Thank you for your quick response, Connie. I saw the photo, but since then tree was cut down, got new roof & siding, and will get windows next month. Do you know how often they update the photos?

those are provided by Bing not by zillow.
of course if you wanted to get your own, there's likely a local business with a small plane that will do it. go look at your house on bing maps- you'll see it's the same as zillow.

Who can take a new birdseye view photo of my home?
