Yes. In her book "My Life in France" Julia describes how she and her husband, Paul Child, bought the house in January,1959 for approximately $49k. According to Julia, the house was built in 1889 by the philosopher Josiah Royce. The house was rented until Paul's retirement from the foreign service in May, 1961. They owned the house until about 2000. Definitely a historic home.

Thanks for this...
I was looking at it, and saw no Memorial plaque on the property, and figjured I had the wrong place...
I guess the City of Cambridge doesn't rate her life as being as significant as the rest of the world does.

I read Julia Child lived at 103 Irving St, Cambridge, MA -after her return from abroad in 1961. She lived there about 40 years. Her kitchen was put into the Smithsonian from this house where she fimed a lot of her cooking shows...including the last 3.

Who used to live here.?
