That's nice about the Japanese and all but this is America. All we need is to get our job situation righted and we'll be going good.

Yeah, I mean the Japanese spent a whole decade dumping taxpayer money into zombie companies and wouldn't let bad banks fail.  That would never happen here.

This would be really funny if it wasn't giving me such a queasy feeling inside.

Ignorance is bliss......and thinking that America is impervious to any and all is just the most ignorant thing to ever write.   I am so done with all this "we are Americans" hyperbole when it comes to digging out of this mess; it is that sort of narrow thinking that got us into this situation in the first place.

Gave me chills to see a car dealership that had been around for decades with only a few cars on the lot.

Mike,
The SBA has been virtually eliminated over the last 10 years and approximately $3 trillion has been funded to corporations that are, nearly without exception, reducing labor force.
What effective steps is any branch of the US govt currently taking to expand the labor force outside of administrative staffing and pet projects?

pretty strong push into environmental job growth, seems to be pretty organic too, though the stimulus isn't hurting. also health care cant grow fast enough with boomers getting cancers and aches galore. energy, even traditional energy will produce another million or so jobs, building and retiring power plants, though this may fall under "pet projects" to you, oil independence is still a national security issue.

I would love the current version of "green technology" to be viable.  It is not. One of my largest clients is dependent on the misguided money flowing towards technologies with limited use or potential...so, I personally benefit from the waste.  At the same time, I recognize it as the waste that it is.Any energy policy that is not based on nuclear technology is mere fancy.  If solar is developed to a fraction of 1% of the electricity we need, you'll find the ecological problems associated with it are perhaps more harmful than dirty coal. Photovolaics are semiconductor based, plastic, semi-disposable parts that would have to cover dozens of sq miles to be of any regional benefit.
Heard anything at all about nuclear?? (pin drop)
