The only one looking at the house value is you.  No one else pays any attention.

If you thought Zillow was offering a "free appraisal", or that the estimates were supposed to be a "prediction of present market value", you were mistaken.

See the FAQ: "what is a Zestimate".  The 70% confidence interval given for each estimate tends to have a tolerance wider than +/-20%, and you still have a 15% chance of it being above that range, and a 15% chance of it being below that range.

And if you have missing data on the details page, or distorted data, or you got a discount on the purchase, of course the estimates will be manipulated by your neighbors. and misinterpreted.

If you wanted a higher estimate, you should have paid 5 times more for the property.

I wonder how many Zillow accounts were created by people who were just that pissed off they had to go online and get all keyboard crazy on Zillow.

Not too many; there are only an average of 120 new threads per day, and only an average of 3 response posts per thread.

Out of about 65 million users of the website, there have only been a total of 1.74 million posts on the forum in 7 years, and the majority of them are either asking about mortgages, or how to use the website.  Only 513,910 forum threads ever created.

There are more people trying to do SEO on health products then there are people complaining about estimates.

Not made up; I see the threads for SEO that Zillow has to delete the spam, and the new Zestimate questions every day; about a 2 to one ratio of health SEO to Zestimate complaints.  Zillow used to delete the SEO threads completely (about 10 to 12 per day), but now they are just deleting the contacts and content and leaving the threads.

You could do a search if you wanted.

And I never asked you to believe it anyway.  You are free to believe anything you want.

But even if you checked the counts in the right margin; 14k total Zestimate questions (not all complaints some just trying to find out what it is, or how to get one, or where the home details page is...), it indicates 14k.  Out of 514k total threads, that is 2.7%.  With 120 thread per day average, that is about 3 per day.  Much less than the 10 to 12 threads Zillow was deleting per day due to SEO (spam).

You do realize that absolutely every thread, and every post are assigned consecutive numbers don't you?  And that anyone can read those numbers?  And that the "newest" sort and the "last updated" sorts allow you to get the last used numbers for each at any time?  And you do realize that the numbers are never re-used even if threads or posts are deleted don't you?  There is nothing magic about looking up numbers.

There are many ways of trying to find out home much your house is worth, the question is which one you want to use and stand by. Some people look at there city/town tax assessment and believe religiously that that is the value. Other like to avoid talking to a professional and look at third party sites, like zillow.com. Which they may be correct, but really can only go off from the information that they are fed. The absolute best way to find out what your home values at is either call an appraiser and pay for an appraisal to be done. This will give you the number that a bank will lend for a house, otherwise saying what your home values at. Or you can call your local Realtor to do a Current Market Analysis on your home. Remember your home values can change, but if you want your home valued, you have to call a professional, an Appraiser or a Realtor.  This is what they do, day in and day out.

Sometimes if you don't have anything nice to say you should say nothing at all.
