Why am I NOT able to add someone to a Homepath contract? Can't I just use a addendum?

Are you talking about a contract that has already been accepted and executed by Home Path?  If so, this is the case in almost every foreclosure or short sale.  It is to protect the seller.  The problem is that individual "straw buyers" would get the home tied up in their name and then "sell" the contract over to another buyer.  With all of the low inventories in most cities and high competition, this creates a larger opportunity for fraud and predators.  In most cases, you should be able to add a spouse but that is as far as they will let you go, unfortunately. :(
