Around the time this question was asked Zillow began charging $1 for what had previously been Free...
This is the only explanation given by a STAFF member for that change I'm aware of...
Rachel:
"Some agents, home sellers, and landlords come to Zillow with one specific goal in mind: to post their home for sale on Zillow. They are familiar with Zillow, and are not interested in visiting a second website (i.e. Postlets). For these users, we provide the option to easily create and post a listing for just $1. This can be done in minutes, without leaving Zillow.com."
"For users interested in marketing their home broadly across the web, Postlets is a great option." Where did the FREE postlet option go?
They (Zillow) have apparently reconsidered that change and reverted back to how it was previously (Linking people to Postlets).......
It's Free once again

Zillow is a free service however if you pay for your listings they are showcased and much more visible. If you decided to pay for the service I would look into a package deal its much cheaper

Your home will be searchable... but its ranking and visibility will be behind those that are featured.

The only way not to pay is through a syndication service, such as Point2, List Hub, etc.

Why am I being asked to pay to advertise my listing. I thought this is a free service for realtors.
