That certainly is frustrating. Have you checked the county records to see if for some reason they have it down like that?
Did you refinance, if so, it potentially could show as a 'sold'
It shouldnt bother you though, when you , if you , go to sell your home, you will probably use a reliable agent who will help you price your home using recent figures from the multiple listing service.Or you will price your home from figures supplied by an appraiser you paid. Zillow is in its infancy, give it time, its a terrific tool to get a 'general sense' of things. It by now means replaces a real estate professional.
Thank you

Sold information on Zillow typically comes from the 3rd party data collection company Zillow hires for that area, who copies the info from the county records. Some data collection companies are not as good as others, and copy refinance information down as a sold transaction.
Zillow always provides the information from the "report a problem" reports to the data provider that provided the information to have them double check the records. They rarely contact the one that marked the problem unless the individual specifically requests it. Typically it takes a few months for the data provider company to verify the info from the county records.
Also, occasionally an Agent will report a property sold, and that info will end up on the site even though not verified with the county records. Unfortunately, there are thousands of unethical Realtors®, and even more blatantly careless ones that can't even get an address correct.

Next, I will write a Boston Globe story about the unreliability and unresponsiveness of Zillow.
Let's hope you're writing that for the opinion page. Otherwise you will have to actually TALK to Zillow.

It depends where they're pulling the information from. If it's pulled from MLS it's easy enough to track down the agent and at least correct the problem if you get in touch with a local realtor. If it's a condo they may be confusing it with another unit in the same building. Sometimes there is confusion between similar names that are 'street' or 'road'.

Why are boogus transactions listed in my house's history?
