Why are some homes unavailable on Zillow although they are published on MLS?

I am looking for a multifamily residential investment property. When I identify one that I am interested in, I like to look it up on Zillow to get more info. But often the property I am considering would not be available on zillow.
Interestingly enough, a home that is not for sale, e.g. my own home, is availalbe at zillow.

I would suggest you NEVER rely on information about property values based on what you can find on one of these public forum type websites.  The information is not complete and often erroneous!

If you wish to find out information about properties or how much a property might be worth by comparison, contact a local agent.  These are things we can do relatively easily.

But, a larger overarching issue here is why more home buyers don't have an agent?  Here in MN, it rarely costs you anything out of pocket.  Unless you're a professional REALTOR, you don't know what you don't know.  Would you perform an operation on yourself by reading a book?  No, you'd go to your doctor.  This type of transaction may not be life threatening, but why not have a skilled, educated professional navigator to guide you through these tricky waters?

All properties "added" that are not matched up to the "country records" have nothing to base a "Zestimate" on.

The only reasons some properties don't have county information available on the site are:
1) Their 3rd party data collectors missed it or made an error.
OR
2) The property is newer and the information was not recorded in the public records yet.

The other issue is that some Realtors specifically type in false addresses to keep people from looking up the property.  Sure, they will tell you it was just a typo; but when I've brought it to the attention of Realtors, they never seem to correct it.

Jason, Thanks for the response! And why wouldn't Zillow get the info from the County like they did on my own home?

The bottom line: Could I add a property that I am interested in so I see Zillow estimate and the historical data?

Thank you so much for the response! Sincerly, ewahbah

Most homes have to be uploaded to Zillow from the agent, broker or have a data feed with the information. It is a media site that gets information from agents/brokers and if a less 'tech savvy' agent has the property, odds are it won't find it's way onto Zillow.

As for your own home, they get information from the county where the property resides.
