Why can't Agents remember to lock the door?

Profile picture for girouard property RE
I have had it,and I'm rippin' mad. 3 times in 2 weeks at one of my listings the door has been left unlocked. Today the door was actually left open. when I check my supra key and called the agent, I was not so surprised to hear him deny that they did anything wrong, or left the door open or unlocked. When I reminded this one bafoon that he was the last one on the key safe to be log on, he told me I must be having a menopausal hot flash (which actually to be fair, I was) I'm at a loss to understand why in this market we are still dealling with people who can't even lock a freaken door. No aswers are needed...I'm just venting.

At this same listing I check on the home every 2nd day and to my horror, the back slider lock is jammed, and the screen door was removed. thought maybe someone tried to break in , but when I called the last agent to see if she had any problems, she said no, that she had a home inspector there too check the componets and he discovered the sliding back door was jammed so he removed the screen to have move space to look at the door. What is wrong with these people? She had a door removed???? Anyone else dealing with brain dead Realtors who don't give a feces??

Hang in there Phyllis... it will get better... many of 'those' agents are retuning back to their day jobs... better for the rest of us full time pro's...

We've rarely seen this happen in our area, but that's probably because we are using Supra Lockboxes that track the person who has opened the home or listing.

With that said, we have run into an issue lately where someone opened the home, used the bathroom in the worst way and did not flush.

Thanks goodness this is the exeption to the rule. At least in our neck of the woods.

I must confess...early in my career...I left a condo door unlocked. Fortunately it was a secure building. Since then I've become obsessed with making sure the dang door is locked. Nothing is more horrifying than a irate phone call from a fellow agent.

A couple of years ago I wanted to show a condo to a client. The last agent had taken the door from the mechanical lockbox (with key attached) and apparently just stuck it in their pocket. I never did see that condo.
