Please excuse my use of "area" rather than "zip." Of course you're right but 98053 should have shown my obvious intent since "an area code is a 3-digit number."

Area code? An area code is a 3-digit number preceding your 7-digit phone number. 202, 415, that sort of thing.
Perhaps you're referring to a ZIP code, a 5 (or 5+4) digit number used by the U.S. Postal Service.

I'm not speaking from Zillow's perspective, but do know they get their mapping information from bing maps. Have you taken a moment to check bing maps to see if the error is there also?
Note: we are having a problem with our address and bing maps with wrong zipcode and city name. Google maps corrected it within two weeks, bing maps it is months and still no correct.
