I am aware of public records and how to access them which is why I am asking the question because I know from public record that places in my neigborhood that have sold several times but the "LAST SOLD" title is not even there. I have no issues at all with myself being honest and sharing that information though I am not sure in my case that this is the most fair information to be on page one since it could immediately appear that I am looking for profit, while the truth is that I am taking a huge loss. So, I would not want that information on "page one" in fairness to the truth which Zillow depends on. I will ask the ones who post the ads without that data if they know. Thank you all for taking time to respond anyway.

In some areas I see the information for the last two or three years, other areas I see it as far back as 1980. So, I'd guess it is presented by what is available through the data sources accessible to Zillow.

Lucy2012,
As far as I know, Zillow doesn't allow owners or agents to turn public information fields off. In most areas where Zillow has last sold information the properties that do not show last sold information on the property details pages are those that were sold in the distant past. The number of years of last sold data goes back seems to vary by area. If it is posted on Zillow it is part of the public record and buyers can find it whether it is posted on Zillow or not as part of their due diligence.

There is no way that I know of to turn that last sold off on Zillow. I think for most houses sales info stays up for 12 months past the last sale and then it drops down to the transaction section lower on the page.
I do not think that there is a difference for houses that sell on Zillow or juts come through as sold in the public record.

Yes, I know that it is available and pros and cons, but that doesn't answer my question. Thank You.

Most people reserarch this data on their local board sites anyway. I alway let my clients know how long the home has been listed and the entire history on the home if it is available. This make for a more knowledable buyer and let's them and the agent/broker if their are issues, or if it was listed too high and other facors.

Why is "LAST SOLD" on some ads but not on others?
