Why is my home listed as sold on Zillow?

Hi Zillow,

Why is my home at 16310 Armstrong Place, Tampa, FL 33647, listed as sold on $51,000 on Zillow?

We don't want to sell the home now. Please remove the nonsense and put it back to the market value.

Thanks,
Stunned owner

The "correction" if any would have to be made through the Hillsborough County Clerks Office.  Since you filed the paperwork recording the trust then it is public record and Zillow simply reports this fact.  You would have more insight as to where the $51,000 figure came from.  Just because this figure is used in the county records, it will not affect the actual value of your house, nor with the County Appraiser Office when they value you house for property tax.  It is not anything I would worry about, especially since you state you are not interested in selling your home at the present time.  Go to this site"

http://www.hillsclerk.com/publicweb/search_court_records.aspx

click on "search official records" on the left
click on "I agree" at the bottom of the page
enter your name, last first with no comma
you will see the entry at the bottom of the page
click on your name and a PDF of the paper filed will appear
near the top under your attorney's name you will see
     "Consideration"  $51,000

That is why the county used that figure to record a change/sale.

Let me know if I can help you further!

I think Neil (of Zillow) triggered an investigation.  Usually they end up with an asterisk and "not included in Zestimate calculation" notation.

Thanks for the insight. We searched at county's record but could not find it. Is there a way to remove the non-sense "sold" from Zillow?
Much thanks!

It is pretty typical when a property goes from regular ownership to a trust for the transfer to be recorded by the county in a way that looks like a sale.  My relatives' property recently "sold" for $1 for the same reason.

Hi Steven,

Thanks for responding. Yes, our attorney did a life estate deed but never for sale. Is there anything wrong? How to correct it on both Hillsborough County record and Zillow?

Thanks so much!!

The reason your property appears as "sold" for $51,000 is because you (or someone) recorded a Life Estate Deed in Hillsborough County on Aug 24, 2011 that shows a "sale" date of July 22, 2011 for $51,000.  Since it was recorded as a "sale" Zillow is simply showing what is available in public records.

Hi nblue -

Our apologies for the inconvenience. I was able to check this in the county records and sent it to be corrected.

Thank you.
