Zillow cannot see your improvements unless they are reflected in a higher assessment or a higher sales price. All they can see are the numbers and that leaves a lot out especially if you have made improvements to your house. Zillow is not an appraisal they are a numbers based estimate with obvious limitations. Zillow did have an owners estimate feature where you could show value for improvements on your home page, but that is offline for retooling until March I read.
The other thing is that improvements that you make do not generally return dollar for dollar value even though they may make your house sell faster down the line. There is a cost vs benefit report here that explains better. Windows for example in your area return about 68% of every retail dollar they cost to install .

What's funny is how people get upset when Zillow shows the Accurate Market Value of their worthless home.
Face it, Your house is ONLY worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it. All that money you wasted on a new roof because some roofer talked you into blowing $45K (Wow...) on a roof that should have cost you $10,000 tops does not mean your house is worth anymore.
Zillow prices are based on what a REAL buyer in today's market would pay for your house compared to other similar homes in your AREA. Location, Location, Location. Your House itself is not worth as much as you people think. It never was.
Putting $$$ into your house is just wasting money. Your house is NOT an investment and spending $45K does not equal an additional market value that a buyer will pay.
Stop living in a fantasy world.

Not the county tax assment because it is not even close to the low ball on Zillow. I just want my home removed from Zillow all together. I have more square feet and a largere lot yet my house is worth less thsn houses in my neighborhood with half the lot size and half the square feet???? Someone please enlighten me on ZILLOW!!!
