Why would you want to change the house's deed multiple times between spouses names?

Let me preface this question, by adding that as I was investigating the property records of a home I am interested in purchasing, I noticed that the owners changed the deed to the home 9 times over the course of 11 years.  They transferred the deed from spouse 1 to spouse 2, then spouse 1&2, and then repeated.  The owners are developers, so I figure there must be some interesting strategy for doing this.  Any clue to as why they would do this so frequently?

And sorry in advance if this is a stupid question here, I am just trying to get myself as educated as possible as I enter first time home ownership.
