There is practically no harm in doing this and is done often.The spouse might have worse credit and/or little to no income and is left off to make the deal better.

The only reason you wouldn't want to do this is in the case of a divorce. The spouse on the note will be obligated and if the note dosen't get paid it will only affect the credit of that spouse on the note.

Why wouldn't you want to refinance a mortgage with only one spouse and both on title & deed?
