Why

My neighbor's house was sold for $242K in 08/2012 (check property appraiser web if needed) but Zillow lists it as sold for $142K in 06/2012. When flagged, no correction was made. (address: 4553 Pointe O woods dr, Wesley Chapel, FL 33543) Also on the same drive, another house was sold for $342 but you lists as $170K (address 4501 on same drive) - See Pasco County Porp. App. web if doubts. Why low-ball our community?

Zillow does not collect the data from the county records themselves; they pay 3rd party data collection companies to copy those records.  Some of the employees of some of those companies are careless.

With over 100 million home details pages, and a relatively small customer service staff (about 25 people...) Zillow does not get to most of the flags for checking in one day.  (The exception is flagged foreclosure data, that they indicate they will "respond" within one business day, but even then the correction may take up to 3 business days).

They prioritize the flags for review and correction, but it can easily take up to 2 weeks before it is looked at.  And then it still needs to be checked with the county records and manually revised.  They try to get the data collection companies to check the data when the data provided was flagged.

You are looking at 4552, not 4553.

4553 states last sold 6/2/06 for $374,466

If there was a more recent sale, the 3rd party data provider company for the area just has not provided the data yet, in spite of Zillow regularly paying them a fortune to do so.

Zillow indicates that 4501 was sold for $325k on 12/4/12, and presently estimates it at $321k, range $263k to $376k.

The $167.5k sales were
4547 (sold 1/24/11)
and
4624 (sold 6/1/11)
