Nope. Jindal will win it. Oh, he's not running? OK. But the outsourcers that are hired by gov to program voting systems all know that he can be won over if pressed to run, yes? On the street, they're looking to show that he wins with "computer analyzed" data proof! Ha!

I agree with you Roberto...he is certainly a hyporcrite (among other things)...and I think he can be nasty......... right now, people might like that snarky attitude to certain point, but it might eventually wear thin.
Americans are just so tired of typical political "speak"......so his quick, retorts are probably seem by some as refreshing.
I also wonder if John King's debate intro question regarding Newt's ex wife's interview helped rally his supporters even more. The boo's directed at the question were overwhelming, and he was very adept at deflecting the question in a way which avoided addressing it .....and also helped make him look like a victim........I don't like the man, but I think his response worked really well for him, and might have helped build more support in the SC primary.
Florida should be interesting......so will Romney's tax returns!!
Oh, one more thing...........I wish someone would ask Newt if his wife's hair ever moves! (sorry, just being silly)........we need more humor when it comes to politics for sure!
Go Steven Colbert!

newt is a pompous twit. he is what stupid people think an intelligent person is supposed to sound like. He changed his belief in science to anti science to win the idiots on the far right on everything from climate change to evolution. This allows only two interpretations: he is willing to lie to win, or he really is this much of an idiot, either of which would discredit him from a vote for thinking voter. Not to even mention the utter hypocrisy of laying into Clinton for impeachment while in the midst of a six year affair of his own...Then running on a family values platform.
This being America in a deep recession, a bitter lying pompous windbag may represent what the voters want to voice their frustration, too bad for the country if they do!

It was interesting to hear Newt challenge Barack to seven 3-hour debates if he gets the nomination... especially that he would let Barack use a Teleprompter if he wished; almost implying that Newt will only rely on his memory, and perhaps a few "note cards"?
Anyway, I wasn't sure what the "teleprompter" had to do with it, since a "debate" is not supposed to be a previously prepared speech.
At least Newt didn't attack any of his party this evening, and he tried to say nice things about others that were running.
It was amazing how much the votes shifted with just one endorsement this week from a prior candidate.

Thanks to Sunnyview. The election indeed affects housing market through upticks in stock market, economy, increased jobs, and consumer confidence sentiment. It will be improvement in these indicators that will help the housing market. It will not be govt help or govt interference.

This question is listed under Other>news which seems appropriate. Not all conversations on Zillow are related directly to real estate, but you could argue that the Presidential election may have an effect on the larger economy and the RE market in turn.

With all due respect, just wondering why this question is on a real estate site?

The turnout at my precinct was not bad. I was the 286th person to vote, and the little old ladies, who run the precinct, said only 356 people voted in the last Presidential Election, which was known for high turnout. I expected to be the 77th person to vote, or thereabouts. Pleasantly surprised. I didn't vote for the Lizard of K Street, or the Wizard of Wall Street.

He has to if he is going to go further. I've read the turnout is slow and lighter than expected due to bad weather in South Carolina. He is ahead at the moment - Perry's endorsement helps. We will see shortly.

I agree about the debate. It has been said by pundits that people would even be willing to pay admission to see Newt vs Obama.

Tough question. I don't know. The cameras love Newt, but I'm not sure how SC feels about his chances against Obama or in the rest of the country. I read here that since 1980 the winner of SC went on to become the winner of the nomination. It'll be interesting how voters there felt about the debate and if the poll numbers hold true when people go to vote.
I can say that I would rather watch Newt and Obama in a debate instead of Romney and Obama, but I'm undecided about how I'd vote if it came down to that.

Will Newt win the South Carolina primary?
