Worst home projects/features/products?

Hi everybody. My name is Melinda Fulmer and I write for MSN Real Estate. I'm working on a story, looking at the most overhyped, wasteful or problematic features/products that people install in their homes. Have granite countertops jumped the shark? What else have you found to be a total waste of time and money? Please share your vote and personal stories, or private message me. My deadline is Wednesday 6/23.

Thanks!
Melinda

Here are a couple I can think of:

Large Built in Entertainment Centers:  They don't work well with the newer flatscreen t.v.'s.  People are now just buying furniture like centers with the tv on the wall above.

Central Vacuums:  You either love them or hate them.  I personally hate them.

South East Texas, Granite still great and in demand.

Bright Colors seem as bad choices at times.

Nothing else comes to mine at this time.

Good Luck with your article.

Good Luck!
