As a Spokane area agent, I get questions all the time about the basement square footage issue. The issue actually originates from the fact that the county records, until very recently, only listed the "assessed" square footage of a home as the main floor and above with basement square footage listed in a seperate section of the tax records....and that is how zillow gets their information if the it is not updated by an agent (as it is listed or sold) or by the owner themselves. If you think about it, that is the only way Zillow could get that information.

Hi PeteJorg -
I checked your home facts and it shows that we have the same information with your county records. We have the square footage and basement listed separately. We also advice you to claim your home so you could update your home information.
