If you ask Microsoft how often they update images you get a politicians answer. They tell you a lot but don't answer the question. I guess it mainly depends on how populated an area is, that sets their priority for updating. Using the system here at Zillow, I see areas that are as old as 3 years. Funny thing, if you go to www.live.com, another Microsoft mapping site, the same area will show images maybe one or two years old.
Your best bet, as a homeowner wanting pictures of your property, you can always post some photos that you take.
