Your price does not match agents

listed on zillow and foreclosure.com a home listed @ 393 Brooklyn ave. jefferson county, LA is listed for 55k but agent says it is 75k. I notified foreclosure.com about it a couple of weeks ago and they said they would look into it and if there were any adjustments, it would be changed in a few days. It is still listed for 55k, can you tell me why?

Most consumer websites don't have completely accurate information. All the big ones benefit from having a large number of listings for consumers to browse, which translates into more traffic, which drives ad sales and other revenue sources. There are a lot of technology issues that factor into if or how often updates are syndicated to the site, but when you cut away all of the details the accuracy and completeness of information isn't the highest priority.

Sometimes there are data entry errors. A few years ago I had a property listed for 349,000 (an average price for our area) and accidentally put in 34,900. It took about 2 days of active work to get the information corrected on this site and several others. In that time there were about 2 calls per hour on the property.

They probably forgot to look into it and change it.  I have seen listing agents leave the status of a home as "active" even though it has been in escrow for weeks.  They just forgot to or didn't bother to change it.

You can't rely on those real estate sites....must contact agent to look into it thoroughly.  Trust your agent.  There is nothing more frustrating than working with the "I know it all" client but of course ask questions as well when there is some confusion.  Just don't make a fuss out of things when the answer is not what you want it to be.

Your local agent will know more about the area you are in than a nation wide website. When you are in a city, prices can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. A local agent will do a Comparative Market Analysis to determine the best listing price for your home.
