Z Estimate

I would like to dispute your Z Estimate.  I have made several major improvements to this house that I know aren't being factored into your Z Estimate.  How do I go about getting that changed?

If you watch the video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7F2WnU6xbQ&feature=youtu.be ) Zillow provides about commenting on your Zestimate, it should get you in the right direction.

Also, once you've "claimed" your property, you can add your own educated guess as to the value. (look on your property's detail page for the link to do this)

Also, the Zestimate is based on a comparison of your home to other similar homes, so make sure the vital stats of your property are accurate (bedrooms, sqf, year built, year remodeled etc.) You can edit your property's facts by clicking on the "Edit" dropdown menu, located below the property description on your property detail page.

The zestimate compares your home to nearby non-distressed sales, not comparable homes. So the more diverse homes in your area are, the more it  can be "off." It is a computer generated estimate, using ONLY publicly available information...no person evaluates the inside of the home, the view, the high end features, non of that.

Sometimes it can be very accurate, sometimes not at all.

If you've made several major upgrades to your home, Zillow will reflect those if your tax assessment has changed to reflect the improvements.   If you've added square footage to your home, you can claim your home on Zillow and edit the home facts (click on "help" towards the bottom to pull up instructions).    The Zestimate may respond to increase in square feet over about 2 months.
