They actually do save all those things in a cookie on your computer, but once you do a new "search" by address or area, the cookie is reset and the filters are cleared.
Since they are part of the URL parameters in the browser address bar, it is possible to copy that section of the URL parameters to a text file, and then to just paste them back in as needed.
Yes, it would be nice to have the ability to set filters to use in one's profile. It does let you save filters with a saved search and recall them, but it doesn't let you apply the filters from one search to a different search presently.
It has been mentioned many times, but the "wish list" for implementation of features and bug corrections is so long, that it hasn't worked its way up the priority list for the 5 computer programmers to actually do anything about it yet.
Yes, more requests for a feature or improvement does make a difference in changing the programmer's priorities.
(And I still say, out of about 180 employees only 5 "programmers" for a company that is primarily a website with about 300 million web-pages, is not enough. They really should triple the number of programmers).
