Zillow Rental...

We found our rental on Zillow. However, we r ess then happy with rental OR manager. When u find something u like, you'd think the people ur renting from 'CARE' about the property...NOT the case it seems here. Our manager, INFORMED us 'if it is functional , it won't be replaced'..it is a rental' quote un quote
The window blinds 'COVER ' the windows, but DO NOT open, or go up/down!
As we did our FIRST walk thru. 'missing' rods for the kitchen blinds, no screens on the sliders.Noticed OTHER issues..Like, the sinks leak in both bathrooms. 2 weeks time the old dirt came bk up and we had to have the carpets done again.... You can see where the tenants prior 'TAPED' off ALL of the slider doors and fireplace due to the cold air coming thru the gaps. The DISHWASHER does not work, but because it spews water, they claim it does. There should be a law that states if ur 'paying for 'amenities'.. that do NOT work, WE should be refunded some of the rent..
Frustrated and ready to break my lease. Like most people find,  once u have rented ...later u find some minor things you'd like to adjust, so in that sense, we r like everyone else. But we feel like we were misled when we rented and the people were less then forward about issues that should have been addressed/fixed?

Zillow is a place where anyone can advertise their rentals, just like the newspaper and the bulletin board at the community center.    Zillow doesn't inspect rentals, and Zillow isn't a rental agency.

It sounds like you've rented a place that isn't to your satisfaction.   Landlords rarely upgrade rental property at a tenant's request.   You can learn more about a landlord's responsibilities by pulling up your state's landlord/tenant guide.   Usually they have to make sure it is habitable and safe, so things such as heat, water coming to the location and electricity to the location are often addressed in state laws.   Whether or not the windows leak cold air or there are functional blinds are not usually addressed by state law.    Please pull up your state's laws to see where  you stand.

A useful checklist when moving in or evaluating the property before signing is something like the one California has on their website (link)

Zillow is a just an advertising medium. You can not hold them responsible for all the listings on their site.

This is an issue between you and your landlord. Sometimes landlords are more like slumlords and want to put little to no money into the up keep of the property. Sorry this has happened to you.
