Zestimates for the same house should not be different depending on who is looking at it -- please provide the address of the home in question (and the current zestimate value you see) so I can test your theory.

Drew,
My address is 1624 golden glen ct. Like I said when I search for my address your map shows the selling price of my house of 290K, but when I searched the next door neighbors house the map showed a price of 239K for my house with differing zestimates shown both times 249k, and 242k. I don't mean to accuse you of anything, but everything I've read in these comment pages leads me to believe that your site does not take any of these issues seriously, and the appearance is that you tend to shine people on until they get sick of complaining and go away.
There are some issues we can help with, and some that we cannot. The issue we cannot help with is people who ask us to change their zestimate value -- we do not manually cahnge zestimates.
On the map -- recently sold price of $290,000 and Zestimate of $248,000
On your home details page - zestimate of $248,000
I'm not seeing the other values anywhere. Please let me know the specific search you are making to see it.

Whatever the problem was yesterday, I can't recreate it today. Maybe it was just a one time glitch in the system, I'll let you know if I notice it again.
To respond to your answer regarding changing zestimates, your site would go along way toward creating some good will with the homeowners who are pissed off at you if you would simply allow them to have your zestimate removed (not manually changed) from the details you show about their house. The last known sale price and the list of comparable homes should be enough information for potential home buyers to keep your site as useful tool. You could even post a disclaimer that the homeowner has requested that zillow not publish their zestimate for this property. If you have any information on why your company does not do this then I would be very interested to hear it. No Zanswers please.

Drew , I hope you are going to answer that. My home address is 4210 Lunar way ,94587 and my immediate neighbour is 4212 Lunar Way (its attached to my townhomes). Mine is a 4 BR 2.5 Ba 1583 sqft where as my neighbour one is 3 BR 1.5 ba 1255 sqft. Now the funny part is mine has a zestimate of 416500 where as my neighbour one is 503,000. Because of this low zestimate i cann't get refi as lender now-a-days don't go by logic but unfortunately by zestimate. Can u please explain the reason and fix the anamoly here.

yep...it sucks doesn't it? insurance companies want to save as much money as possible so they are relying more on stupid worthless sites like this instead of wasting their money having proper appraisals done. Mortgage companies, real estate agents are all taking this site too seriously and that is why we all get outraged.
This is how I see it. Get a chainsaw, cut out a bath or two, take out a bedroom and your house will go up in value. Unreal.
Good luck.

Drew,
Please answer my question above.
We believe more information is better and to have a truly transparent environment, people need to see the same unbiased Zestimates on all the properties --- not just those where owners or agents "like" the zestimate value.
We definitely receive numerous inquiries from people (like this one) who have homes outside our zestimate coverage area wondering how soon their home will have a Zestimate value.

The people wanting to be including in your database are misguided fools. I hope they read up a bit before they get suckered like the rest of us.

Drew is there anyway to remove zestimates , I believe it is doing more harm than it is required.

I NOW DO BELIEVE THAT THE MORE YOU POST THE MORE YOUR ZESTIMATE GOES DOWN

THERE IS OBVOIUSLY A GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM WHERE THE MORE YOU POST, THE MORE YOUR PROPERTY VALUE GOES DOWN. LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS AND GET THIS FIXED.

Drew, I have been pretty impressed with Zillow up until now. My property at 7905 Cross Pike Drive (zip code 38138) has had a "zestimate" of around $213,000 for a long time now. All of a sudden it dropped by $22,000 yesterday. Why???? I am in the process of selling it and this is going to hurt big time. My neighbor across the road has a house that is smaller than mine, has one less bedroom and does not have a swimming pool. His house's "zestimate" has remained at $208,000. How can you honestly explain that my house has dropped by $22,000 overnight while his house has remained steady? I could understand if all of the houses in my neighborhood experienced a similar drop but they HAVE NOT. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Drew,
More information is not better if the accuracy of the information stinks. I could look at your picture and taking into account your current position, guess that your probably somewhere around 35y.o. and probably drive a 2006 full size truck, probably a chevy. Unless I do some more research my guess about who you are and what you drive is absolutely worthless to anyone who wants to find that information out. Its useless because its a wild ass guess just like your zestimates. If you are not going to take information provided by homeowners, research it and adjust your zestimates accordingly at least give us the option of removing your wild ass guesses about the value of our homes off of your website. Please respond.

I'm with you Bev- but I intend to be as much a thorn in their side as they are in mine.

Go to the BBB and file a report. Zillow has an unsatisfactory record with them (big surprise, huh?) and the BBB also posts all of their contact info.

Oh and by the way, my zestimate has gone down considerably since I have been posting about the BBB. AND when I go to try and edit my own estimate, I get an error. I posted about this and they gave me a bunch of hogwash on how to fix the problem. It is NOT fixed and I can't do anything with my own house.
tamitrail-
I just checked on your account and was able to successfully get into the edit screen for your private estimate. Where are you getting an error?

I've posted this at least 2 other times. Maybe you can get in, but I can't. When I go to my listing for my home and I click on comparable homes or try and edit my own estimate, I get an error that there is a broken link. I already tried what someone else at Zillow recommended. It didn't work.

Clicking on any owner tools results in:
We're sorry, there is a problem with the site.
Please try one of the following:
Use your browser's Back button to return to a previous page.
Check the URL for proper spelling and capitalization and try again.
The link you followed might be broken or expired. Try going to the www.zillow.com home page and following the links there to find what you need.
I just verified that the link from your my favorites throws an error -- I'll file a bug for that.
However, if you click to your home details page, then you'll see your private estimate at the top of the page. There is a little link to the right of it that says "edit" -- click that and it should work.
Another tip if you're trying to sell your home -- take more photos and upload them. There is only one photo uploaded to your home details page.

- tamitrail
- Contributions:44
Nope, sorry, that doesn't work either. I cannot edit my estimate.
I highly doubt my home will sell hence the reason for not uploading more photos. I had problems doing that with Zillow also.
tamitrail-
I just checked on this issue again and it appears to be resolved.

Zillow appears to be vindictive and sneaky with their zestimates
Everytime I question the integrity of this site the zestimate of my house mysteriously falls. Today when I logged on as someone else and searched for the house next door to mine I found a value and zestimate considerably less than if I am logged in under my name and search for my house. Their maps show the selling price of my home from a year ago when I'm logged in (290,000), and a zestimate of 248,000 when I click the house for more details. When not logged in, their maps show a price of 239,000, and a zestimate of 242,000 when I click the house for more details. The controllers of this site appear to be dishonest, vindictive, and disrespectable toward their clients who use this site. Something needs to change.
