Zillow - assignment of agents?

Profile picture for Blueprint Vermont
My Brother and I listed our house at 110 Van Buren Road in Glenville NY, for sale on Zillow on 6/1/10.  On 6/28, we took the listing off Zillow, however, without out permission or request, an agent was listed in our listing...a John Gallagher....we do not know this person nor have we asked for his assistance.  AND the "days on Zillow" is now listed as 4.  The house still appears as "For Sale" although we have taken the listing off Willow on the 28...How does an agent hyjack a listing without permission?  What can be done about this...if the persons name isn't off the listing and the listing isn't cancelled, I will be looking into a complaint with the board of realitors

A lot of the time the listing appears to belong to an agent when in fact the agent is listed as only a contact.

It can be confusing, but if you scroll to the bottom of a listing and look at the left, it will show the listing source.

If that source and the agent match up then usually that is the listing agent for that property.

IDX is a real estate online format that many website use, it is required to show the agent and the brokerage that furnished the listing. Many agents use these to promote their business. Again it can be confusing but the agent you see and the listing agent are not always the same person.

A Realtor© should not hijack a listing.

Good Luck!

Zillow does not assign agents to listings. They merely pull information from a variety of sources and redistribute it. In your case, it looks like the information came from FreeHomeListingOnLine.com

I would first try contacting Mr. Gallagher through Zillow's contact form and ask him directly how he ended up as the contact for your home. If that doesn't work, I would contact FreeHomeListingOnLine.com to alert them of the mis-information.  You can report a problem with the listing to Zillow by clicking this link http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/110-Van-Buren-Rd-Glenville-NY-12302/32485472_zpid/#   (found at the bottom of your home's listing page), but until you get the information corrected with FreeHomeListingOnLine.com, you will have the same problem over and over as the feed gets pulled again by Zillow and other websites.
