Zillow sent me an alert that a property had come on the market, but it's not on the mls. Why?

Zillow sent me an alert that a property I had been watching in simi Valley had come on the market, but when I log onto the MLS to try to get more information on it, it doesn't show as an active listing.  why? Is there another way to get more info?

Hi Leslie, Since you are based on Toluca Lake, you may not have access to everything in VCRDS. If you arent connected with a professional here in Ventura County, why not connect with me. I would be happy to set you up with a MLS Portal for listings that fit your criteria, you know it doesnt cost me anything and I love to connect with people from all areas? Are you watching property in Simi for yourself or a client? Either way, I service all East VC and it's not all about the money, so, just email directly [email removed by Zillow modertator] and I'd be happy to help.

Like someone else posted, the property could be a for sale by owner (I hate when people call them FSBO's) or it could be that sometimes sites like Zillow or Trulia or RealtyTrac pick up directly input properties or foreclosure data properties and even owner uploads that arent "for sale". We can figure it out.

It could be a FSBO and not listed on the MLS or an agent is holding a pocket listing.

If a property is listed on Zillow, you can open the home details page and scroll to the very bottom.  The contact information for the person/agent who listed will  be at the bottom.
