additional bedroom to house advice?

Hi. i was wondering how much it would cost us to build a 13x13 bedroom, just basic shell. electricity and everything in it but no carpet or door or windows. we can buy all of that and install ourselves. i just want a ballpark estimate. i am not looking for specifics. if this is too broad a question..does anyone know how to educate ourselves on putting this all togther and planning?? we are not very educated on any of this, but we know we can save money if we know enough about it all. thanks.

A visit to your Village Hall Building Dept to get the required code information will give you an idea of the complexity. Hiring it out will probably be surprisingly expensive. Doing it yourself will take less money, more time and lots of planning before proving very rewarding-once it is done properly, You will need to buy lots of tools and will gain great experience and confidence...

There really is no basic ballpark answer. The site topography, existing house systems that you'll tie into, the cost of materials and labor in your local market, and even things like the ease or complexity of getting local planning approval and permits, will determine the pricing. I'd try asking local contractors and see if they can give you better responses, based on their expertise in local pricing, permit processes, and the effect of environmental conditions and local codes on the design and other requirements for your addition. Sorry there isn't an easy answer!
