any suggestions on a house rental in a state that you currently don't live in?

We will be moving to Port Charlotte, Fl in late May and will be visiting the area in March.  Currently living in Mo.

In my line of work, I constantly get calls from folks moving in from out of state for work that are not familiar with the region. What I suggest, is that if you happen to know the city/town where you will eventually be moving to, to Google for real estate agents or property management companies in or around that city/town. Establish contact at least 3-4 weeks prior to your moving date and have that agent send you listings that meet your criteria. Be realistic and ready to accept that the perfect house might not be available and therefore compromises might have to be made. Visit the area and see the listings for yourself- NEVER enter into any agreements on a property site unseen! Give yourself plenty of time, take notes of what you like and don't like for each property as well as pictures, and most importantly- don't let it overwhelm you! Being prepared is the key to success!
