The rental estimates that you may see will vary depending upon the type of rental it is. If it a single family home, condo, town home or apartment then yes it would be as a whole. Now if you see a posting for a room for rent or roommate needed and normally it will say it in the description of the property then at that point it will be for the price of the room. Just make sure you read the description first before getting excited. Some can be misleading.

they are estimates of what that home might rent for if it were posted for rent- based on market data for the area (which doesn't mean that the person wants to rent the house). if you see one that is posted for rent, it should be as a whole. however there are always exceptions so you'd want to contact someone on that house or read the notes. Most will be as a whole.
