If an agent has performed well for you in the past and you believe they are a good agent, My recommendation would be to sit down with them and ask if they can truly serve you in your new location.
A Truly good agent will be honest with you and may refer you to another quality agent if they feel they cannot support you in the best manner.
I have turned away listings based on location. I am not really familiar with property in North County and felt it would be a dis-service to the client to accept their listing. Hopefully they will remember i was an honest agent that had their best interest in mind and pass my name on to a friend moving to West County.

I lived in Chesterfield for 20 years and moved to the Florissant area. Now, my Chesterfield acquaintenances wonder if I can market their Chesterfield homes???
If your agent is marketing aggressively, staying in contact with you with updates. including you in the decision making, coming up with new marketing ideas and has your home priced right, I don't think changing to a Florissant agent is going to make any difference. The only snag would be if the house is vacant and the agent needs to keep an eye on it. It is quite a drive to Florissant from Chesterfield.
As long as you have good representation, you probably don't need to change. Talk to your agent first.
Take care,
chris

"By my handy mapquest.com I see that it's just 24 miles from Chesterfield to Florissant."

Obviously, Mike hasn't spent much time on 270. lol
However, I really agree that if the agent has had success there in the past, and knows the area well, I would stay with him/her. Particularly, if you feel the agent's doing a great job of marketing, and certainly if that's the case, tell the back yard real estate advisers to back off.

It's always important to have an agent that is very familiar with the area and types of homes in the area, however, switching agents is a bit of a touchy subject. If your current agent is doing a good job of marketing the property there should be no need to switch. If there is no marketing, have a good chat with your current realtor and discuss the options.

If you are working well with your agent and they are familiar with Florissant, I would stick with your current agent.

been advised to switch agents to one who is specific to Florissant, does it matter ?
