Realtors that have the (ABR) designation behind their name have taken advanced training to better represent your interests. This coveted designation is awarded to real estate professionals by REBAC.
Those realtors that have aquired the (ABR) designation promote superior buyer representation skills and services.
There are agents that can still represent you as a Buyers Agent even if they do not have this designation.

Most agents do both. Just find an agent that will listen to you and your needs. If they start showing you their listing, move on, they are looking out for themselves. They may show you homes and one even two of them may be theirs but more than that, beware!

tiffany is right. Your agent shouldnt say this is the one for you. They should tell you the good and bad, and let you decide.

If you are looking for an agent on Zillow, you might want to check the posts of agents in your area and see who you feel most comfortable with. Look for good, solid, balanced advice. A good agent shouldn't make you feel like you are buying a used car. Instead of all "puffery", they should be willing to discuss both benefits and detriments of each property.

richard is a shmuck. Finding a buyers agent depends on the needs you have. They dont need to be exclusively a buyers agent. It is good if they work mainly with buyers, but not exclusively.
Interview agents to find their strengths and weaknesses. Find an agent with strengths in your weaknesses. If you negotiate well, that isnt as important in an agent. Do make sure the agent is well organized and follows through. That is something that cannot be replaced.

You can check with the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents or NAEBA to help you locate a good agent in your area. Just google NAEBA and you'll get a list for the area.

Most Realtors typically serve both buyers and sellers. Some move exclusively to one side or the other.
But buying your home need not be contentious. As a matter of fact, if you find a good agent that works both sides of the street, he/she will have a negotiating advantage knowing how both sides work, and help you create a smooth, pleasant transaction.
The beginning of anything is the most important part. Making the buing experience pleasant is important.
Find a pleasant, knowledgable, experienced agent who works in the area you want to buy. Visit open houses to meet one you might like. Call the agents whose signs dot the area. In all likelihood, you won't buy the home you first see, but hiring a good, hard-working agent (FREE to buyers) by browsing your favorite neighborhood will be worth the effort, I promise!

You'll want to visit the Web site for the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents (http://naeba.com/). If your buyer agent is not an exclusive buyer agent then there is the potential for a conflict of interest. Good luck.

Hello,
Employing the services of a Realtor makes great sense, since navigating through the home purchase process is both complex and fraught with financial dangers. However, as the buyer, you should have your own Realtor who will be fully committed to representing your best interests.
Therefore, I stand ready to assist you with your home buying needs and look forward to helping you make fiscally safe and sound decisions. I am available to you 24/7 and can be reached via my Zillow profile.
Looking forward to speaking with you soon.
