I would agree with Wetdawgs to check with your attorney, but my concern would be more about the likelihood of having to pay some sort of support, and that affecting your ability to pay a mortgage.

As to the property itself, there is an exception to the property being community property if the couple is living "separate and apart" when the property is obtained.  That does not mean, however, that it would not need to be dealt with as part of the divorce.  Again, talk to your attorney.

As Washington state is a community property state, property obtained while still married will need to be addressed as part of the divorce.  Ask your divorce atttorney for more details, but most likely it is now an excellent time to rent.
