You are right about that. However, I would suggest you make an appt to come in and meet with our lender to make sure you are on the right track to rebuild your credit.
Look forward to hearing from you.

You can definately purchase a home again in the next couple of years if you have sufficently rebuilt your credit and have a little bit of cash for the down payment. Depending on the lender and the underwriter you might be able to do it sooner than the 3 year mark.
I'd suggest finding an excellent direct lender with a smaller company who has more control over the underwriting process. Bigger banks have systems that are good at getting volumes of loans processed, but they are harder to work with if you need to be looked at on a case-by-case basis because of your situation. I've been very fortunate to work with Mike Westbrook with Intercoastal Mortgage over the last several years. He's made the buying process much easier for my clients.
If you have an experienced Realtor you trust ask for a referral to their best lender. This may or may not be a loan officer affiliated with their brokerage firm, but be sure to stress the importance of someone who will work with you on your situation.
Also, when it comes to credit it's good to talk to a lender before trying to tackle improving it my yourself. The credit agency rating systems can sometimes be counter-intuitive. You'll get to your goals faster this way.

Yes you can, but the main thing is to keep all bills current and get that score up. Give me a call and we can set an appointment to make sure you are on the right track.
