Move to Philadelphia the taxes are much cheaper, i myself never understand why the city taxes are cheaper compared to deleware county pa i live in a beautiful twin in a nice neighbourhood i pay 1,800 in taxes per year. My house is value $299,000 i bought this home back in 2008 for $200.000 so it held its value even in a bad economy compared to deleware county 4-12 thousands of dollars in taxes and there homes are valueless ,cheap with a big tax bill i dont get it i almost feel sorry for those people

The problem is the school tax its so out of control its like paying a second mortgage, Pennsylvania got a pension crisis meaning all the homes especially in Delaware county is over accessed to help fund there schools ,when you got taxes higher than your mortgage you got a big problem

I would suggest you contact the PA Tax Assessors office and investigate why the tax bill is priced where its at. They will tell you and its going straight to the source. Good Luck!

The property may be over assessed, the best way to find out is to go to the tax assessor's office of the town where the property is located and double check with them, it may also qualify for tax grievance.

I did the "research" too, and came up with property taxes in about the $500 range; and states paid to date, no back taxes, so no clue why Zillow is getting a higher number from the county records than they reference.

Many parts of PA do have high taxes, but not that property.

This might be prior year delinquent taxes. You can call the county to confirm this amount. Usually delinquent water bills and nuisance violations are added as liens to the tax year that it occurred in.

Just a side note if you looking to purchase in PA as an investor it is a state that requires lots of legwork for rental units (yearly rental permits, yearly inspections etc).

You can contact me if you want any investment advice. :)

Last one that I checked on that was "too high" turned out to be "back taxes"...

There is a link on the details page to the county website.  You will probably need to check it out there, and maybe even need to do additional searching.
