"+" character not allowed in email during signup, but allowed later

I tried to sign up with an email address that had a "+" character in the left-hand side, and the ajaxy registration page prevented me from using it. So I signed up with a different address; after signing up, I was able to go to my profile and change my email to the correct one without any problems.

Also note that I was unable to report this bug without signing up for an account first. :P

Please, please, please stop trying to do email validation, unless you really actually know how to do it.
