Hello, and glad to answer your question regarding determining the value of a home.
Zillow can help and is a good place to start, but a seasoned real estate professional is your most trusted source in today's market.

Find a real estate agent/broker who is active in your neighborhood.
They will provide you with the latest comparable sales in addition to the current active and 'in escrow' properties in your neighborhood. This will give you an overview of what has occured in the last 6 months as far as sales, and what is currently happening with the active inventory and pending properties.
The agent should be able to compare your property with the solds and ascertain the value based on the differences in your house and the ones that have actually sold - comparing square footage, (both lot and interior), improvements, age of house, views, parking, location in the neighborhood, and a host of other features.
The value can change from month to month depending on a host of factors - inventory, demand, seasonal, etc.
Often sellers/owners will want to go to a licensed appraiser, which often times is warrarnted for specific trust needs, etc.
Real Estate professionals often will do this exercise with homeowners at no cost, it's a good way to market themselves and introduce themselves to a prospective client.

Can you be more specific? Is your question, 'how do I determine the value of my home?' I think Zillow offers a pretty good start with the z-estimate, especially if you tweak some of the sales and specs of your home for improved accuracy.

Don't depend on your tax assessed value, I have a good appraiser friend who is very experienced and happened to spend some time at one of our WA counties, he said their method of determining value is off base. Prior to this market it was almost always low but nowadays it can be low or high, usually it's just off.

Additionally, if you have a realtor who can help you with some comparable sales that'll give you a really good idea. But if you're doing it on your own zillow is a great place to start- add some of your own details and you'll have a pretty good idea of your value.
