Sometimes doing a rent to own is an excellent option for both the buyer and seller. In a market where home owners are competing with foreclosures, depressed prices and lengthy days on the market a rental with the option to own can be equitable. Many sellers may consider doing a rent to own if they are approached with a good to opportunity to do so.
I typically just ask the agent if their clients would consider this option. It never hurts to ask!

Shadow,
I don't know what part of the country you are in but I run a [link removed by moderator] company out of Florida. Our number one goal is to help families eventually purchase their dream home.
With that said, I have to agree with the previous answer by wetdawgs. The VAST majority of rent to own properties you find are offered by either homeowners who do not have the knowledge or network to help you eventually move forward and purchase the home or by investors who do not care if you purchase the home and would rather you didn't, that's the simple truth...
Again, I would agree with wetdawgs that you should continue to rent for a year or two until you save enough money or improve your credit until you qualify for a loan.
I can count on one hand the company's throughout the country I would recommend so I doubt you are in their areas. If you are still interested, let us know your area and we may be able to recommend someone.
Good luck!

That isn't one of the categories that is searchable on Zillow, but occassionally one sees a comment in the description that the owner will consider "rent to own".
Rent to own is a troublesome category. Most owners will require a substantial, non refundable down payment, the only monthly payment that goes towards the purchase is the amount above and beyond fair market value rent (and that is also non-refundable). Your choice of houses is very small. In almost all cases, renting for a couple of years to build up a down payment and/or improve credit score is a far better choice.

do you have any houses that are rent to own?
