They advertise as an non profit group, but I am nervous about their services.

JD says

www.hopenow.com = provided by govt
www.hopenhousing.org = not a non-profit.

wrong twice, reported as spam, better word scammer

by definition anything that has a .com extention is a for profit company not associated with the govt. a .gov extention is for govt sites or programs, and a .org is reserved for, as you may have guessed, a non-profit organization... but i double verified that they are indeed a not for profit counseling agency. they do not handle the legwork, you do.

No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you or through or from this Hope 'N Housing shall create any kind of promise or business relationship.

there are govt sites too, but www.hopenow.com IS NOT a govt affiliate

I have heard of them. Look at their website it lacks little value or information. Home, about us and contact us takes you to a lead generation page. Check them with the BBB and ask lots of questions.
Do your homework first before doing business with any company. Some good questions to ask might be. Are they a member of the BBB? How many years in business? Do they take any upfront fee? Do your Due Diligence. Check them out!
Good Luck

From what I have hear non-profits only give you tips on how to do your own loan modification and that they actually dont do the loan mod for you.

Correct me if Im wrong.

Well - I have never heard of this site or company. But it is clear from their website that they are not a non-profit.

You want help - go to the Treasury website at www.hopenow.com
This is a free service provided by the government.
Hope this helps.
