If you are ready to buy, find a Realtor and look at "genuine" listings advertised in the Realtor MLS system.

"thats no answer about how zillow operates.."
I disagree. It is answer. Zillow is not in business to professionally babysit the few bad apples in the RE profession that falsely advertise. If you want more oversight of those bad agents it will not come from craigslist, online RE feeds sites or Zillow.
It will come from complaints made by people like you to local agents, their brokers, the licensing agency and/or Board in your state. Be the change, but don't expect any online site to monitor agent accuracy or ethics.

Apart from Zillow if the information is listed on MLS you should contact the broker of the listing and have them correct the listing information.

You are right, Zillow (like all real estate sites) is not fact checking the listings and depends on agent honesty.
Have you flagged the property so Zillow can investigate? I often do when I bump into incorrect facts. (I particularly love those advertised in the tens of acres when it is clear from the satellite view that it is a city lot of <0.25 acres. Zillow usually corrects them.

Zillow trusts agents to tell the truth. If you run into agents advertising on Zillow that are not, I would say that you should consider calling their broker and turning them into their local Board for false advertising where it will do the most good.
Most agents are honest, but there are a few bad apples in every bushel.
