HUD homes are typically listed for sale by a local real estate agent and placed in the Multiple Listing Service (MLS). Often the listing agent will not even know when an offer has been accepted. This happens because of the way bids are submitted. If the listing agent doesn't change the status in the MLS - it will show that the home is still for sale. If you're interested let me know and I can send you a link where you can check the status of a property and find new HUD listings.
If you're interested in purchasing a HUD home, contact your real estate agent or broker, as they must submit an offer on your behalf.

I find that it is an epidemic of agents who are happy to put properties up for sale but leave them long after they are sold. I suspect they are either doing it tolling for business hoping someone will call, or ignorant about what it takes. In both cases, their behavior disqualifies them from my developing a business relationship with them.
Let them know your opinion when you call and run into yet another property that is not longer available.

If it's truly a HUD home, then the agent has to have a special key to enter the premises. To have that special key, they need to be a HUD certified agent.
You might want to check out hud.gov to see if these houses are listed on their site. And if they are, you might want to go through the listing agent to see the home.

houses listed for sale ARE NOT
I just went on a ReMax website in ohio, where the house is listed as active, and for sale. whenever i inquire i get the same bullcrap that its already sold and its a hud home we just didn't take it off of our list. If it happens once or twice its just a fluke but it happens every time. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS????
