Just as with other cities in California you have your tax base which is the % of tax you pay, based on home value, then you have the assessments which are voted on in your area. ie bonds, schools, repairs needed etc.

This is a link to the SB tax assessor where you can get a estimation of taxes on a property you are thinking about buying or a copy of your tax bill if you already own a home.
